2001-Present Day

In the 20th century and earlier, tourists and residents alike flocked to Brooklyn Heights for its perfect view of the Manhattan skyline, which had been consistently climbing upwards. But in the 21st century, tragedy struck, as the events of 9/11 redefined the Lower Manhattan skyline and the community within it. The growth and change that has occurred in the skyline since shows the resiliency of the neighborhoods of lower Manhattan. People are once again seeking out the viewing platforms of the Brooklyn Heights Promenade and the Brooklyn Bridge Park to better appreciate the new skyline of Manhattan.
